The Mayor of Djibouti City, Said Daoud Mohamed, and the President of the Rabat Municipal Council, Fatiha El Moudni, co-chaired a crucial meeting on Friday afternoon aimed at formalizing a twinning agreement between the two capitals. This agreement, expected at the end of the official visit of the Moroccan delegation, reflects the commitment of the two cities to build a sustainable and innovative partnership, based on common interests. The meeting, which was held at the Djibouti City Hall, allowed both parties to discuss key issues related to urban management, environmental challenges and development aspirations. One of the key moments of the meeting was the presentation of the "Vision Djibouti 2035", which highlights major projects for the modernization of the capital, starting with the development of the Central Plateau, an ambitious urban revitalization program. The discussions also focused on municipal management experiences and partnerships already established by Djibouti with cities such as Konya (Turkey) and Ningbo (China). Ms. El Moudni welcomed these initiatives and expressed her desire to strengthen cultural, economic and institutional ties between Rabat and Djibouti. To structure this cooperation, a joint technical committee, headed by the Secretary General of the Djibouti City Hall, was formed. Composed of representatives from both cities and municipal councillors, this committee will be responsible for developing the practical arrangements for the twinning and defining the first concrete actions to be implemented. This partnership with Rabat, a city rich in centuries-old history and assertive modernity, promises to open up new perspectives. "The twinning between Djibouti and Rabat is based on common values and a shared vision. Together, we can address urban challenges and strengthen ties between our peoples," said Mr. Said Daoud Mohamed at the end of the meeting. This twinning, based on solidarity, exchange and the search for common solutions, constitutes an important milestone in strengthening relations between the two capitals.
