On Tuesday, June 10, a delegation from the Djibouti City Hall departed for the city of Changsha, in Hunan Province, where the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo will be held.
This municipal mission is part of the decentralized cooperation established between Chinese cities and the city of Djibouti.
Comprising Mr. Othman Hamad Mohamed and Mrs. Kifia Ali Ahmed—respectively the Mayor’s chief advisor and a local elected official, municipal councilor, and member of the Djibouti City Council—the delegation from Djibouti’s municipality will participate, during their stay, in the proceedings of the 4th China-Africa Forum.
Indeed, under the theme “Joining Hands for Modernization: Creating a Better Future for China and Africa,” the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo is taking place from June 12 to 15, 2025, in Changsha, with the participation of more than 48 African countries, 9 international organizations, 27 Chinese provinces, municipalities, and regions, and over 4,700 enterprises, trade associations, and financial institutions—bringing together more than 28,000 attendees.
Moreover, the delegates mandated by the Mayor, Hon. Said Daoud, will meet with senior officials from the municipality of Yongzhou to sign an official twinning agreement between the city of Djibouti and Yongzhou in Changsha—a project stemming from the mission led by Mayor Said Daoud Mohamed to China in July 2023, heading a large delegation.
On the sidelines of this working visit, the Djibouti City delegation will also attend various activities organized by the Chinese municipal authorities.
With a strong team spirit and exemplary leadership, the Mayor of Djibouti City has entrusted his close municipal collaborators with this important mission to China, led by his chief advisor, Mr. Othman Hamad Mohamed.
Finally, it is worth noting that following his election as President of the Djibouti City Council one year ago, the Mayor established decentralized cooperation ties with three strategic cities in the People's Republic of China, including Yongzhou.
In line with the enlightened vision and major political orientations, particularly in the area of international cooperation, set by the President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh, the Mayor, Mr. Said Daoud Mohamed, continues to strengthen decentralized relations with several cities around the world in pursuit of successful and sustainable urban development.
