Day 4: The "Zero Waste" operation continues for a clean 48th Independence Anniversary.

Date de l'événement : 2025-05-26

As part of the preparations for the 48th anniversary of the Republic of Djibouti, and in line with the "Zero Waste" initiative led by the Mayor of the City, operations to remove wrecked and out-of-service vehicles have intensified in the Boulaos district. On this fourth day of the campaign, the Djibouti Municipality teams (MTI) were reinforced by the logistical and human resources of committed partners, notably the Djibouti Vehicle Office (OVD), the Djibouti Transport Agency (ATD), and the National Gendarmerie. This synergy of action was praised by local authorities, highlighting the collaborative spirit in service of urban cleanliness. Operations focused on several strategic sites, including the outskirts of Stade City, Salines Ouest, the vicinity of the Avenue 26 Gendarmerie Brigade, and behind the old fire station. These efforts freed up long-cluttered public spaces, breathing new life into these neighborhoods. Next to the 3/4/5 brigade, the removal of wrecks allowed local youth to reclaim their football field—once again becoming a source of joy and social cohesion. Law enforcement, tirelessly mobilized, ensured the safety of operations, protecting teams and equipment while guaranteeing smooth execution. The Mayor expressed his sincere thanks to all partners for their commitment to the sanitation and beautification of Djibouti. He also emphasized the importance of these efforts as part of a broader vision for sustainable development and improved living conditions for citizens. Operations will continue tomorrow for a fifth day, with new interventions planned in Q5 and around the fire station. As usual, local elected officials will be on site to oversee activities, further strengthening the bond between institutions and the public. This initiative, widely appreciated by residents, reflects the authorities’ determination to make Djibouti a clean, modern, and welcoming city ahead of the national celebrations.
