The First Magistrate, Mr. Said Daoud, participated this Tuesday in the Conference on Cochlear Implants held at the Amphitheater of Djibouti Military Hospital under the patronage of the Military Hospital and the University of Djibouti.
The Military Hospital marked a significant milestone by hosting the Conference on Cochlear Implants, a crucial event dedicated to improving access to auditory care and supporting patients on their journey toward a better quality of life.
At the heart of the conference was a focus on the patient journey, from diagnosis to surgical intervention, followed by comprehensive auditory rehabilitation. The event brought together medical experts, hearing specialists, and families to discuss technological advancements, encountered challenges, and proposed solutions for optimal care.
A particularly moving moment of the conference was the activation of cochlear implants for three young patients by Dr. Abdi Okieh, a medical captain, and Mrs. Bennys Hela, a representative of Cochlear—a company specializing in auditory solutions. This milestone offered the patients the ability to hear fully for the first time. This intervention, a first in Djibouti, will now be achievable within the Military Hospital.
This achievement heralds a new era for these children and their families, opening up new prospects for a future enriched by sound and communication.
The conference also served to raise public awareness of the importance of cochlear implants and their fundamental role in auditory rehabilitation. It emphasized the commitment of healthcare professionals and authorities to developing solutions tailored to the needs of patients with severe hearing impairments.
