On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, as the entire nation commemorated International Women's Rights Day, Mr. Said Daoud Mohamed, Mayor of Djibouti City, fervently honored the women collaborators in his cabinet. In a gesture filled with symbolism and elegance, he presented them with roses, expressing his gratitude for their unwavering dedication to public service.
In a heartfelt speech, he highlighted their indispensable role at the heart of municipal management, emphasizing their contributions in every corner of the administration. "Your work, your commitment, and your passion shape our city every day," he declared, strongly expressing his respect, recognition, and admiration for their efforts in serving the public interest.
His tribute extended to iconic figures as well, offering his sincere wishes to Her Excellency Mrs. Kadra Mohamoud Haid, First Lady and President of the UNFD, praising her tireless fight for women's rights. His thoughts transcended borders, embracing all Djiboutian women and women worldwide, celebrating their courage, resilience, and decisive influence in building societies.
The Mayor also reminded everyone of the municipality's concrete commitment to women's economic autonomy, referencing programs dedicated to their financial empowerment and professional integration. "Equality is not proclaimed; it is built," he affirmed, reiterating his unwavering dedication to the women's cause, particularly to the sixty women who work daily within the municipality. "Your professionalism, your sense of service, and your rigor are the invisible pillars of our public action," he insisted, underscoring their key role in implementing local policies.
Finally, he paid homage to the progressive vision of the President of the Republic, His Excellency El Hadj Ismail Omar Guelleh, whom he described as a staunch defender of women's emancipation and empowerment. "The progress we celebrate today is the result of political will carried at the highest level of the state," he emphasized, acknowledging the advancements made in women's rights and professional equity.
He concluded on a note of hope and determination: "Equality is not a mere wish but a national priority.
