The municipality of Djibouti, on Monday, February 3rd, signed a memorandum of understanding with the municipality of Tangier to enhance cooperation between the two cities in the fields of planning, urban development, infrastructure, environment, transport, and culture. The agreement, signed by the mayor of Djibouti, Mr. Saeed Daoud Mohamed Al-Mazjaji, and the president of the Tangier City Council, Munir Lemouri, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Arab Cities Organization, Abdul Rahman Hisham Al-Asfour, aims to establish a framework for enhancing cooperation and partnership between the two cities and to lay down the principles and foundations of cooperation between the parties. Under the memorandum of understanding, both parties will work together to develop a multi-sector partnership in planning, urban development, and infrastructure, particularly through digitalizing services and smart cities, infrastructure management, and developing mechanisms for mutual cooperation. The agreement also includes the field of environment, particularly the management of environmental resources, energy efficiency, sustainable development, environmental protection, the development and management of green spaces (afforestation, greening, and beautification of cities), and waste management and recycling. Additionally, the agreement covers the field of transport through the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices in organizing and developing urban mobility systems.
